McIlroy was the youngest winner of the championship since 1923

The actress is among close to 1,000 people from all walks of life whose achievements are recognized moncler jackets in the annual New Year's Honors List.

Northern Irish golfers Rory McIlroy and Darren Clarke, who won the U.S. and British opens this year, are also on the list, capping an outstanding year for UK golf.

Most of the people honored with knighthoods or a variety of slightly lesser traditional titles such as Commander, Officer or Member of the Order of the British Empire (CBE, OBE and MBE), are unknown to the public.

Among them is former teenage drug dealer and gang member Chris Preddie, now 24, who renounced crime after his brother was shot dead and now campaigns against knife and gun crime among black youths in London.

Preddie is related to two brothers who murdered a 10-year-old boy in 2000, a crime that shocked Britain. The victim's father told British media he objected to Preddie being honored with an OBE.

TV producer Peter Bazalgette, credited with popularising the "Big Brother" reality show format across the globe, will receive a knighthood - becoming Sir Peter - which may please legions of www.monclerjackets2011outlet.com Big Brother fans but dismay critics who say the show is vulgar.

PALACE POMP

Novelist Penelope Lively, a past winner of the prestigious Booker Prize for her 1987 novel Moon Tiger, is also on the list. She becomes a "Dame," the female equivalent of a knighthood.

A rung down from a Dame with her CBE award, Bonham Carter received one of her two Oscar nominations for portraying Queen Elizabeth's mother in Oscar-winning film The King's Speech.

She will experience true royal pomp when she receives her award at a ceremony at Buckingham Palace next year, but she is no stranger to nobility, coming from an aristocratic family. Her great-grandfather, the Earl of Oxford and Asquith, served as prime minister under Elizabeth's grandfather, King George V.

Also honored at a high point in a long career is golfer Clarke, who won the last British Open at the age of 42, on his 20th attempt. He will receive an OBE, one step down from CBE.

It was a particularly emotional win for Clarke, who has gone through hard times since losing his wife to cancer in 2006. He was the oldest winner of the Open since 1967 and the first home champion in 12 years.

McIlroy will have an MBE to show for his efforts during a rollercoaster year that saw him throw away victory at the U.S. Masters in April only to bounce back by clinching his first major at the U.S. Open in June.

At 22, McIlroy was the youngest winner of the championship since 1923.Moncler vest for men, buy cheap moncler mens vests online.

Queen Elizabeth, whose sporting interests lie more in the world of horse-racing than of golf, does not draw up the Honors' List herself. Government officials seek out worthy recipients, who can also be nominated by members of the public.

The Mavs had an overheated bench incident last April

The two got into a heated "debate" as coach Scott Brooks put it, during Wednesday's win against the Memphis Grizzlies. Westbrook was moncler jackets initially peeved at shooting guard Thabo Sefolosha for passing up an open 3-point look off a drive-and-dish from Westbrook. The 23-year-old point guard didn't let it die and during a timout a minute later, he and Durant were exchanging words, and by the end of the night it was national news.

Both players blew it off and said the incident should not be used to scrutinize their relationship, but rather taken for what it really was: emotions on high during a frustrating portion of the game when the Thunder allowed an 11-point lead to slip three in a three-minute span.

"It’s a part of the game. It never was meant to spill over so it wasn’t like I did it on purpose to spill over," Westbrook said. "I was just telling my guy to shoot the ball when he was open. It wasn’t like I was telling him cheap moncler jackets something wrong to do, I’m telling my guy to shoot the ball and then the rest of what was happening had nothing to do with that play. But, you never get the full story unless you were there to see exactly what happened."

Just three games into the season, the spotlight is definitely turned up on the young Thunder, a team many predict to win the West.

The Mavs had an overheated bench incident last April when Jason Terry and J.J. Barea started jawing on the court after a turnover and bucket the other way. The barking spilled over on the bench during a timeout and coach Rick Carlisle ejected Terry to the end of the bench and then right out of the game. Carlisle wasn't willing to get into the dynamics of another team or how such incidents can affect a squad. But, he did offer this:

"Whatever it was last year worked because we won the championship," he said.

Scott said this is not a step in that direction

The rich and powerful leagues announced on Wednesday a plan to start regularly competing against one another in the hope that together they can increase their national exposure.

While the partnership is for all moncler jackets sports, the most noticeable changes will be seen in football.

The two 12-team leagues are aiming to create a 12-game inter-conference schedule by the 2017 season that would have each school play an opponent from the other conference every season.

That could mean a steady diet of matchups between heavyweight programs such as Ohio State, Michigan and Wisconsin from the Big Ten against Pac-12 powers such as Southern California and Oregon — and less games against lower-level Division I programs.

Increased competition between the leagues in sports other than football could start as early as next year.

“From my perspective this improves the scheduling and creates more high-profile matchups,” Pac-12 Commissioner Larry Scott said in a brief phone interview. “It gets us exposure into the Midwest and East Coast on the Big Ten media platforms, the Big Ten Network and ESPN. And we hope it brings some rivalries that are rooted in a 100-year tradition of the Rose Bowl.

The Big Ten and Pac-12 have been Rose Bowl partners for decades.

“For me it’s a creative way to accomplish a lot of things the conferences seek through expansion without having to expand,” Scott said.

Scott said the idea bloomed after the Pac-12 presidents rejected the idea of further expansion back in October.

Scott’s league added Utah and Colorado this year to increase to 12 members and the Big Ten added Nebraska as its 12th member. Both leagues played conference championship games in football for the first time earlier this month.

Big Ten Commissioner Jim Delany said his league came to the conclusion that getting bigger didn’t translate into getting better.

“When we looked at models for 14 or 16 teams we couldn’t see how we weren’t diluted,” Delany said in a phone interview. “But we continued to look at ways to make ourselves more interesting, increase our reach, make ourselves more national.”

And it does so without having to disturb — or potentially destroy — another conference.

“To be honest with you there has been collateral damage,” Delany said of expansion.

The Big Ten has members in nine states, spanning from Pennsylvania west to Nebraska. The Pac-12 has members in six states, from the West Coast east to Colorado.

“Because there is no overlap, it really helps,” Delany said.

Both conferences will continue to operate autonomously and many details of the agreement are still to be worked out.

Scott said he could see the 12 football www.monclerjackets2011outlet.com games being played over three weeks in September, four each week — the football equivalent of the conference challenges that have become common in men’s basketball.

“Whether it’s branded that way or not, people will keep count,” Delany said.

Michigan Athletic Director David Brandon said: “It’ll be good for fans, TV viewers and our kids, who will get a chance to play in new places. It will also let us take our brands on the road to new locations to expand in ways we haven’t on a consistent basis before.”

The extra marquee matchups could also provide more quality programming for the conferences’ own networks.

The Big Ten Network is five years old and has become a cash cow for the conference. The league also has a television deal with ESPN. The Pac-12 will launch national and regional conference television networks next year, in addition to starting its new $3 billion television deal with ESPN and Fox.

“Any network ... is about distributing content,” Delany said. “The more quality content the network has access to the more it’s able to serve consumers. We’ll be able to create games that have more meaning.”

The Big Ten had planned to move from an eight-game conference schedule to a nine-game schedule, but Delany says that is now unlikely.

The Pac-12 is already playing a nine-game conference schedule, but Scott said that could change.

“That’s the plan for the moment but we will have a fresh discussion about it,” he said.

The Rose Bowl is the only contracted meeting between the Pac-12 and Big Ten in the postseason, but that could change with this agreement. The commissioners said there have been preliminary discussions about the conferences creating postseason games.

“It’s absolutely a conversation we will have,” Scott said.

There has been some concern from college football leaders that conference expansion has been leading toward the power football conferences such as the Big Ten, Pac-12 and Southeastern Conference isolating themselves from the other schools that compete in the Bowl Subdivision of Division I or ever breaking away from the NCAA.

Scott said this is not a step in that direction.

“There’s no political statement that we’re making as part of this,” he said. “This just makes sense for our schools strategically.”Moncler jackets for kids, buy cheap moncler 2011 kids down jackets.

As Delany put it: “It’s two conferences liking what they have but also being open to change. It’s quite a bit of growth potential with little downside.”

Marine biologists suspect Johnny became caught in cold currents

The animal, an endangered Kemp's ridley sea turtle, was found frigid and near-dead off the coast of the moncler jackets Netherlands in 2008, thousands of miles from the Gulf waters these turtles call home. It was dubbed Johnny Vasco de Gama by its European rescuers.

Marine biologists suspect Johnny became caught in cold currents and was "cold-stunned," a condition that shuts down internal organs and can kill sea turtles. Staff members of the Rotterdam Zoo stabilized the ailing turtle and sent him to the Oceanário de Lisboa aquarium in Portugal the following summer.

After rehabilitation there, Johnny flew in a specially adapted plane back across the Atlantic to Mote Marine Laboratory in Florida. Today scientists there released the well-traveled turtle back into the sea.

"He did just fine," Mote spokesman Hayley Rutger told LiveScience.

Johnny is fitted with a satellite moncler outlet 2011 tag that will help researchers keep an eye on his next amazing journey. Mote has tracked more than 120 sea turtles since 2005, according to Tony Tucker, the head of the laboratory's Sea Turtle Conservation and Research Program.

"By tracking Johnny, we'll obtain a rare look at how rehabbed turtles reorient in the wild," Tucker said in a statement. "Fortunately, we can compare this turtle to other wild Kemp's ridleys being tracked currently by Mote and other institutions around the Gulf."

Those interested in following Johnny can visit seaturtle.org/tracking to keep up with him as well as a handful of other roaming sea turtles.

Wade and James are more trouble now

James had beaten back one of his NBA demons, finishing off Boston by averaging 34 points and 11 rebounds in the final moncler jackets two games of the 4-1 series.

Dwyane Wade hadn't been too bad, either, especially in light of his struggles in the regular season's encounters with Boston: He averaged 30.2 points over the five-game set while filling the rest of the stat sheet.

So if you thought the Celtics had their fill of both in May, here's some news for them as they visit AmericanAirlines Arena for the Heat's home opener Tuesday night:

Wade and James are more trouble now.

Both are more trouble because of what the Heat has done around them, more so than anything - whether reshaping their bodies or expanding their games or improving their communication -- that they have done for themselves.

They now are in roles they were born to play, in an offense that better suits their talents. They now are better positioned to put aside some of the weaker elements of their repertoires, from overdribbling to long-range shooting, and focus on relentless attacking.

How did this come about?

Consider that two of the major issues for the Heat offense last season were pace and space, issues that got in the way of their stars' innate athletic grace, often making them appear clumsy and confused.

Erik Spoelstra refrained from implementing much at all on offense until a couple of months into the 2010-11 season, more concerned with establishing a defensive identity. Consequently, the Heat was deadly on run-outs off opponents' missed shots, but would often bog down after baskets, with Wade struggling to find his customary "comfort" spots on the floor and James pounding the ball at the top of the key.

The offense progressed moncler women boots as the season did, before reverting to its unwieldy and unsightly form at times against Dallas in the Finals.

With time to spare, Spoelstra crossed the country to study other coaches - as has been mentioned in this space - starting with Oregon's unconventional football boss Chip Kelly and continuing on to conversations with the likes of Billy Donovan, Urban Meyer and John Calipari.

It was then that Spoelstra chose to focus more on versatility and interchangeability of the Heat's core players rather than the conventional limitations of the overall roster.

When work began after the lockout, he also heard his players' pleas to loosen some of the offensive restrictions and let them to do more reading and reacting.

Meanwhile, his own boss was making moves that would make it easier for James and Wade to be themselves. First, Pat Riley drafted Norris Cole to fill a hole the Heat has had - with the exception of one healthy year from Jason Williams - since Tim Hardaway's knees cratered: a pace-pushing natural point guard.

Even though Cole has much to learn, it's clear James and Wade already trust him; when the rookie was in the game Sunday, they tended to let him handle, whereas they took more control with Mario Chalmers on the court.

With Cole orchestrating, James and Wade are free to slice and cut without the ball, repeatedly violating the paint and causing defenders to scramble.

Riley's other major move?

He signed Shane Battier while choosing to retain Mike Miller and James Jones. Battier played only four minutes Sunday, and Miller remains sidelined by hernia surgery. Still, when all three are available, it will do more than rest James and Wade during the 66-game regular-season sprint. It may also convince James and Wade that, with all those dead-eye shooters, there's really no need for them to do so much of something that simply isn't their specialty. Both can sink 2011 moncler jackets mens winter coats eric light blue three-pointers, when in rhythm, but they're bailing out defenses when they heave too many.

Sunday they didn't take a single one.

The Bears also were without leading rusher and receiver Matt Forte

"It's just another opportunity to come out and compete," McCown said in anticipation of taking over for second-string moncler jackets quarterback Caleb Hanie.

McCown, who last started a game in 2007 for Oakland, signed a one-year contract with the Bears on Nov. 23. He played for Bears offensive coordinator Mike Martz in Detroit in 2006. From 2002 to 2009, McCown threw 35 TD passes and 41 interceptions for four different NFL teams.

"You have a job to do and that's to go play football and help your team win," McCown said. "For me, absolutely it's a cool story and a cool moment, but at the same time I'm a competitor. I want to win the game and I want to do right by the coaches and the other 52 guys in that locker room. It will be exciting for a little bit, but we've got to get down to business."

The Bears faced possible playoff elimination with a loss to the Packers. The Bears would have to win their final two games and Atlanta would have to lose its final two games for Chicago to make the postseason. The Bears wrap up their season at Minnesota on Jan. 1, while Atlanta hosts Tampa Bay in its finale.

Hanie threw nine interceptions during his four starts in place of the injured Jay Cutler, so limiting turnovers was a major objective for McCown entering the Christmas night contest.

"Whoever the coaches give the go-ahead to is the guy we're running with," Bears running back Kahlil Bell said.

"(The Packers) have a lot of guys over there who are really good defensive players, a lot of Pro Bowl players over there, but protecting the football is part of the game, it's the name of the game. The team that wins the turnover battle is usually the team that is going to win the game. So we've stressed it all year, we have to take care of the football."

The Bears also were without leading rusher and receiver Matt Forte, who suffered a knee injury against Seattle in Week 15.

The Bears' inactives were Nathan Enderle, Marion Barber, Levi Horn, Andre Smith, Anthony Adams, Matt Forte and Cutler.

The Packers' cheap moncler men vest medleys shiny puffy black inactives were Graham Harrell, Frank Zombo, Davon House, Bryan Bulaga, Chad Clifton, Ryan Pickett and Greg Jennings.

When Congress reconvenes next month

Mr. Boehner finally chose to slam the door on his highly opinionated conference on Thursday afternoon, telling lawmakers that moncler jackets their view on the extension of the payroll tax break was no longer of interest. He was, he said, ready to accept the Senate’s short-term solution, which passed both chambers and was signed by President Obama on Friday.

When Congress reconvenes next month at the start of what inevitably will be a highly contentious election year, Mr. Boehner will find out whether his less-experienced members have finally been schooled in the way of divided government or if they will dig in against him, posing a potential threat to his leadership.

“I’m disappointed in our entire leadership team,” Representative Tim Huelskamp of Kansas said in an interview Friday with CNN, adding that he had considered returning to the Capitol to protest the vote. “After one year watching what’s occurred and seeing our conservative principles falling by the wayside numerous times in these debates, we’ve got a lot of progress to make.”

But the fact that neither Mr. Huelskamp, nor any other House Republican, dared to return to Washington to object to the legislative action Friday suggests that there is little current likelihood of a credible effort to challenge Mr. Boehner’s leadership.

Indeed some freshmen members said the experience left them rethinking the hard-line stance that their class took all year as they flowed from one victory to the next, vexing Senate Democrats and the White House.

“Our freshman class wanted to do a lot of things,” said Representative Sean Duffy of Wisconsin. “Did we accomplish them all? No. But what I’ve come to realize is that in divided government you don’t always get what you want.”

Mr. Boehner says he is confident he has control.

But the question remains of what will happen next year, when these Republicans have a chance to speak back to their speaker — there is no mute button in the caucus room. And the answer has enormous political implications for Mr. Obama, who has spent much of the year being foiled by the party; for Congress, where at least the Democratic-controlled Senate is very much in play; and for the continuing debate over how to right the nation’s fiscal ship.

“No one is perfect,” Mr. Duffy said. “But the speaker has had a tough job. He has tried to build a coalition behind cheap moncler shoes for men 2011 outlet white/black a lot of different ideas, and I think it has garnered him respect in the conference, but when you do that you open yourself up to the issues we have faced over the last couple of weeks.”

It doesn’t help that Mr. Boehner often cannot rely on the help of his deputy, Representative Eric Cantor of Virginia, who is more closely aligned with the more conservative members of the House and who differed with Mr. Boehner on how to proceed on the payroll tax.

Mr. Boehner has also more than once appeared to miscalculate just how far his conference is willing to go to stand up for legislative ideas they strongly support, even when they have zero chance of becoming law. “We had a real communication challenge,” said Representative Jack Kingston of Georgia, who was elected in 1992. “We might wear the same Republican jersey and allegedly we are on the same team, but sometimes we are going to call plays in a different direction.”

The raucous Republican freshmen, aided by many of the more senior conservative members, have helped the House majority achieve goals that would have seemed impossible in previous divided governments.

They have controlled the spending conversation from the first battle, when new members demanded that Republicans hold out for billions more in cuts than those sought by House appropriators. It continued through the debt ceiling showdown, in which a plan to cut $2.1 trillion over 10 years was formed, as well as during the intense focus on changes in entitlement programs.

But the payroll tax became the wrong battle at the wrong time, framed in the muddiest of terms from Day 1 by Mr. Boehner’s chamber. Many Republicans — notably Mr. Cantor and Mr. Boehner himself — initially suggested that the tax cut for middle-class earners was not a great idea and would not stimulate the economy. The House did pass a one-year extension bill, but with so many unrelated policy components — including one to revamp the unemployment insurance system — that Senate Democrats would not brook it.

When the chambers could not agree on how to get to a one-year plan, the Senate passed a short-term measure, but House Republicans balked, saying they needed a one-year extension on a tax cut many had not supported at all.

For Republicans, being associated with a potential tax increase right before the holidays ended up being too much to handle politically, as editorial boards and Republican senators rained criticism cheap moncler jackets on their heads. Further, unlike in every other major partisan fight this year, Mr. Obama did not back down.

“We should have been on high ground from a public relations standpoint,” Mr. Kingston said. “But part of the speaker’s job in any legislative body is to make the tough decisions that are in the interest of the country and in the interest in protecting his majority. One of the things we found out during the shutdown in the Newt-Clinton years is that you couldn’t base your decisions on Republican red-state sentiment, or you leave your members in purple states vulnerable.”

Patients rejoiced at the possibility of an explanation for their illness

A scientific paper embraced by many chronic fatigue syndrome patients as a ray of hope is being retracted by the journal moncler jackets that published it after a tumultuous year that included allegations of data manipulation and the arrest of the study's lead researcher on a felony charge of possessing stolen property.

In the paper, published in 2009 by the journal Science, researchers reported they had found evidence of a retrovirus called XMRV in the blood of patients diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome much more frequently than in the blood of healthy peers. The paper caused a stir and led other scientists to try to confirm the findings.

Patients rejoiced at the possibility of an explanation for their illness, which has long confounded researchers. Some patients even began taking antiretroviral drugs designed to treat a different retrovirus, HIV.

At the same time, the paper's lead researcher, Judy Mikovits, then employed at the Whittemore Peterson Institute for Neuro-Immune Disease in Reno, began linking XMRV to other frustrating disorders, including autism and Gulf War syndrome, without publishing data to support her statements.

Soon, independent teams of scientists began reporting they could not find evidence of the retrovirus in the blood of chronic fatigue patients or anyone else. Researchers hypothesized that lab contamination could have caused the original findings. Mikovits denied it.

Then, several authors on the original paper reported their data were flawed, resulting in a partial retraction. Science's staff attempted to get the paper's authors — including Mikovits — to agree to a full retraction, but the group could not agree on the wording, Science executive editor Monica Bradford said in an interview.

In particular, Mikovits and others wanted to include a statement that they had confidence in their larger conclusions about the presence of the virus, Bradford said. But some of the authors were uncomfortable with that, as was Science, she said.

On Thursday, Science's editor in chief, Bruce Alberts, said the journal would take the unusual step of retracting the paper itself.

Alberts listed several reasons: the partial retraction of data earlier in the year, the failure of multiple labs to reliably find evidence of XMRV in chronic fatigue patients' blood, poor quality control in some of the cheap moncler jackets for women experiments and the acknowledgment by the paper's authors that they had left out some important information.

"Science has lost confidence in the report and the validity of its conclusions," Alberts wrote. "We regret the time and resources that the scientific community has devoted to unsuccessful attempts to replicate these results."

In an interview, Alberts said the episode was an unfortunate waste of time and resources for scientists and for patients. "I think this whole thing has been a tragedy for science," he said. "It is very sad that the patients got tied up and confused by it."

Attempts to contact Mikovits were unsuccessful.

Annette Whittemore, president of the Whittemore Peterson Institute, said in a statement that the institute would carry on with research on the illness. "It is not the end of the story," she wrote. "Rather it is the beginning of our renewed efforts."

At the center of the controversy is Mikovits, the scientist hired to be director of research by the institute, which was founded by the parents of a woman with chronic fatigue syndrome.

After the Science paper was published, some patients showered adulation on Mikovits. They wrote to her, crowded her at conferences and set up a defense fund when she ran into legal trouble. One patient signed message board postings: "In Judy We Trust."

Mikovits was controversial. Shortly after the paper came out, she spoke at the Autism One conference in Chicago, joining a lineup of speakers that included disgraced autism researcher Andrew Wakefield, who had lost the right to practice medicine in Britain for professional misconduct. There she linked XMRV to autism, a baseless assertion that has since been picked up by some in the autism community.

Earlier this year, the Chicago Tribune reported that Science was investigating whether data in the original paper had been manipulated after an Oklahoma graduate student, Abbie Smith, pointed out that Mikovits had presented the same figure twice — once in the Science paper and once at a conference — but with different labeling.

Science's executive editor, Bradford, said Mikovits explained the problem as an "honest error."

In September, the Whittemore Peterson Institute fired Mikovits and later filed a civil lawsuit alleging that she possessed key lab notebooks and other property belonging to the institute. An employee filed affidavits alleging Mikovits had instructed him to take the notebooks from the institute and hand them over to her.

Just before Thanksgiving, Mikovits was arrested in California and spent five days in jail. An arrest warrant issued by University of Nevada at Reno police listed two felony charges: possession of stolen property and moncler 2011 winter unlawful taking of computer data, equipment, supplies or other computer-related property.

A spokeswoman for the institute said that Mikovits returned some but not all of the lab notebooks and that when she returned one computer, its hard drive had been wiped clean. Another computer is in police custody, the spokeswoman said.

Turkey rejects that figure and the genocide description

Those publicly denying the genocide would face a year in jail and fine of 45,000 euros (£29:000: $58,000).

Armenians say up to 1.5m people moncler jackets were killed by the Ottoman Turks in 1915.

Turkey rejects that figure and the genocide description, and has warned France of "serious repercussions" if the bill becomes law.

Ankara says closer to 300,000 people died, and that Turks were also killed when Armenians rose up against the Ottoman Empire when Russian troops invaded eastern Anatolia, now eastern Turkey

More than 20 countries, including France, formally recognised the killings as genocide.

But the BBC's Hugh Schofield in Paris French deputies now want to go a step further, and Turkey has inevitably responded angrily.

Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan Kids - moncler jackets said the move was aimed at boosting support for French President Nicolas Sarkozy ahead of elections next year, and would "harm Franco-Turkish relations".

He said Turkey was considering imposing sanctions against France in response, the Anatolia news agency reports.

Turkey's ruling and opposition parties issued a joint statement condemning the proposal, saying it "denigrates Turkish history," while there have been protests outside the French embassy in the Turkish capital, Ankara.

Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said he hoped France would "not step on a great and an old friendship and French values for political and electoral gains".

"But without question, no-one can expect us to keep silent and show no reaction," he told reporters.

The government has told you a lot of stuff about how things happened

Manning, who has been detained for 19 months, stared intently at Adrian Lamo, a convicted hacker who alerted investigators about Manning in May 2010 shortly after the intelligence analyst reached out to Lamo over the moncler jackets Internet seeking “moral and emotional support.”

It was the most dramatic scene of the day as the prosecution rested its case in the hearing at Fort Meade to decide whether the government has sufficient evidence to send Manning to trial. The case has drawn global attention, featuring as its suspect a slight young man who has been held up variously as a whistleblowing hero and a traitor to his country.

Over four days of testimony from 20 witnesses in the digital age’s first major leak case, Army prosecutors outlined in painstaking detail how Manning, from a military base in Baghdad, allegedly downloaded onto his work and personal computers hundreds of thousands of documents and two videos from the military’s classified network.

But no witness presented direct evidence that showed harm to national security. Prosecutors did enter as evidence certain documents, including an al-Qaeda video and a magazine of al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, though they did not explain their relevance to the case.

Lamo, dressed in a dark suit and white open-necked shirt, dark circles under his eyes, strode to the witness box past Manning, 24, who wore fatigues and black-rimmed glasses. The two exchanged no words.

In a pointed cross-examination, Manning’s civilian defense attorney, David E. Coombs, attempted to portray Lamo as a double-dealing government informant who betrayed the trust of a troubled soldier who had contacted him over the Internet for moral support.

He directed Lamo to read from a lengthy transcript of Internet chats taken from his and Manning’s computers. The chats took place between May 20 and 26, 2010.

“I’m a journalist and a minister,” Lamo read, speaking in a monotone. “You can pick either, and treat this moncler vosges women blue jackets winter 2011 as a confession or an interview (never to be published) and enjoy a modicum of legal protection.”

Coombs, fixing Lamo with a steely glare, said: “Now at the time you were saying, ‘None of this is for print,’ you had already reached out to law enforcement. And you subsequently provided the chat logs not only to law enforcement but also to Wired magazine.”

Lamo replied: “That is correct.”

Coombs asked Lamo, who said he was a minister in the Universal Life Church, whether he believed “the person you were talking to was coming to you for moral and emotional support . . . asking for guidance.”

He replied: “I don’t believe they were looking for guidance so much as they were bragging about what they had done.”

Lamo, who pleaded guilty in 2004 to hacking into the computers of media companies, testified that on the second day of the chats, he attempted to alert law enforcement officials to Manning’s disclosures. “What I saw in the chats appeared to be an admission so egregious that they required a response,” he said.

Manning’s defense has focused on crafting a narrative of a distraught soldier whose superiors ignored repeated warnings that he was unfit for Army life, much less a position handling classified information.

“The government has told you a lot of stuff about how things happened,” Coombs said. “We’re telling you why things happened. That’s also important.”

Not long after Lamo went to authorities, Manning was detained. He faces 22 charges, ranging from “aiding the enemy” to adding unauthorized software to a classified computer.

The evidence produced over the past several days is damaging, experts said. It includes the existence of chat logs between Manning and WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, who himself is under federal investigation for his role in publishing the leaked material. On Tuesday, witnesses offered more evidence: Even as Manning was facing discharge from the Army in May 2010 for “adjustment disorder” linked to issues with gender identity, he was apparently seeking to download for WikiLeaks a “global address list” of e-mail addresses for U.S. troops in Iraq.

But the government may have overreached in bringing some of the more serious charges, such as aiding the enemy, which carries a potential life sentence, military law experts said. Prosecutors need to show that Manning cheap moncler men vest medleys shiny puffy black intended to give intelligence to the enemy, which is difficult to prove, said Eugene Fidell, who teaches military justice at Yale Law School. Calling WikiLeaks the enemy, said Fidell, is “a reach.”

Most of the dead were women and children

The latest count listed 957 dead and 49 missing and is set to climb further as additional bodies are being recovered moncler jackets from the sea and mud in Iligan and Cagayan de Oro cities.

A handful of morgues are overwhelmed and running out of coffins and formaldehyde for embalming. Aid workers appealed for bottled water, blankets, tents and clothes for many of 45,000 displaced in crowded evacuation centers.

Navy sailors in Manila loaded a ship with 437 white, wooden coffins to help local authorities handle the staggering number of dead. Also on the way were containers with thousands of water bottles.

Most of the dead were women and children who drowned Friday night when flash floods triggered by a tropical storm gushed into homes while people were asleep.

Aquino, on a visit to Cagayan de Oro on Tuesday, said the national calamity declaration will help local authorities cheapest jackets for men gain quick access to recovery funds and keep prices of basic goods stable.

"Our national government will do its best to prevent a repeat of this tragedy," Aquino told residents who came out to greet him.

He said there would be an assessment of what went wrong and why so many people died, if there was ample warning that a storm would sweep through the area and why people living along riverbanks and close to the coast had not been moved to safety.

"I do not accept that everything had been done. I know that we can do more. We must determine what really happened," Aquino said. "Must this end in tragedy? We knew that (storm) was coming. There should have been efforts to avoid the destruction."

The U.N. food agency flew in 3 tons of high-protein biscuits together with water tanks, blankets, tarpaulins and tents for some 75,000 people. Shortage of water was still a major problem in the two cities.

In New York, U.N. Secretary-General cheap moncler jackets for men Ban Ki-moon expressed concerned about the flooding, U.N. deputy spokesman Farhan Haq said.

"The United Nations and its partners stand ready to support the government in responding to this disaster," the deputy spokesman added.

Regional spokeswoman for transport prosecutors

"Sixteen bodies have been found since the start of the operation," the federal sea and river agency said in a statement, moncler jackets adding that seven bodies have been pulled out of the water.

Regional spokeswoman for transport prosecutors, Natalia Salkina, citing her own information, put the number of the bodies located in the searches at 14.

A jack-up oil rig, the Kolskaya, with 67 people on board was being towed from the Kamchatka peninsula across the sea towards Sakhalin island when it got caught up in a storm, capsized and sank within 20 minutes on Sunday.

Fourteen crew members were rescued Sunday and another four people in wetsuits were located in the water showing no signs of life. Rescue workers were unable to pull them out until Monday.

Emergency authorities have refused to presume the missing dead and stubbornly clung to hopes that more crew members could be found alive even after spending hours in the frigid waters of the Okhotsk Sea.

"We are hoping for a miracle," Salkina said from the far eastern city of Khabarovsk.

The rescue operation was continuing through the night even though efforts were hampered by strong winds and waves around five metres (15 feet) high.

An Mi-8 helicopter, the Magadan icebreaker and two more vessels were involved in the searches.

Earlier in the day a plane found two empty rafts at the site of the accident, Alexander Ivelsky, emergencies ministry spokesman from Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, told AFP.

Officials said Sunday that four life rafts were found with no one on board.

The Kolskaya keeled over at 0145 GMT Sunday and sank in water that was more than 1,000 metres (3,000 feet) deep, according to authorities.

On Sunday, President Dmitry Medvedev ordered a probe into the disaster, telling officials to provide victims with all necessary assistance.

Officials suspected that violations cheap moncler of safety rules, a frequent cause of accidents in Russia, may have contributed to the disaster.

"The investigation is looking into safety regulation violations during the towing of the platform and a disregard of poor weather conditions as the main reasons for the incident, as there was a strong storm in the area," the Investigative Committee said.

Officials said the Kolskaya had experienced technical problems even before the accident, and had been forced to pump water out of one of its air tanks due to a leak.

Officials had earlier said wetsuits could protect people from frigid temperatures for around six hours.

They said the crew's commander had told everyone to put on wetsuits but it was unclear whether everyone had the time to do so.

"This is a horrible tragedy which caught the crew off guard," said Dmitry Dmitriyenko, governor of the northern Murmansk region, home to at least 33 of the 67-strong crew.

"I am asking you to believe in the rescue of the crew members, there is still a chance," Dmitriyenko said in a statement on Sunday.

There was no immediate reaction from Prime Minister Vladimir Putin, who plans to reclaim his old Kremlin job in a March presidential poll.

The latest disaster comes after 122 people drowned in the Volga river in central Russia in July when an overcrowded pleasure boat sank in stormy weather.

In August 2000, the Kursk submarine sunk in the Barents Sea with the loss of all 118 aboard. An inquiry found that a torpedo had exploded, detonating all the others.

The catastrophe was notorious for cheap moncler jackets for kids the slow reaction of then president Putin who stayed on holiday by the Black Sea.

The Kolskaya rig belonged to state-owned company Arktikmorneftegazrazvedka (AMNGR) based in the northern city of Murmansk.

It was engaged in shelf exploration in the Kamchatka peninsula for the Gazflot company, a subsidiary of Russia's gas giant Gazprom.

One unconfirmed report put the death toll at 119

Many more people are said to be missing and thousands of others have fled to higher ground.

Benito Ramos, moncler jackets head of the national disaster rescue agency, said reports were still coming in and the death toll was expected to rise.

One unconfirmed report put the death toll at 119.

Mr Ramos said 25mm of rain had fallen in 24 hours, causing rivers to burst their banks.

He said the victims included at least nine people in a single village in Lanao del Norte province as floodwaters struck in the middle of the night, trapping many residents in their homes.

"Massive flooding had been reported over the region, especially in Iligan City and Cagayan de Oro City," he said, adding that tens of thousands of people had escaped to high ground.

Forecasters said the eye of Tropical Storm Washi had passed close to Dipolog City, west of Iligan City, early on Saturday and it was now heading out into the Sulu Sea.

He said the coast guard and other rescuers were scouring the waters off the coastal city for survivors or bodies.

"It happened so fast, at a time when people were fast asleep," he told GMA television.

GMA broadcast dramatic footage of a family escaping their flood-hit home by climbing through a window.

Rescue workers were pictured helping survivors to safety in chest-deep floodwater.

Three people also drowned in Polanco town in Zamboanga del Norte province, said provincial disaster officer Dennis Tenorio. He said high winds had toppled trees.

Ronald Reagan met with congressional leaders at 9 a.m

The clampdown on bipartisan talks and uptick in partisan swipes at his opponents in Congress follows a disastrous series of negotiations in the spring and summer that narrowly avoided a government shutdown moncler jackets and a national default, diminishing the country's credit rating and its elected leaders' poll ratings.

Since then, Obama has purposefully altered his reputation for insisting on compromise — a trait that generated criticism from his base during an August bus tour of rural America. Instead, he has followed through on a threat he made to House Republican leader Eric Cantor in July to take his case "to the American people."

BLOG: Obama: 'No reason' to shut down government:
MORE: Obama losing support among the young

Since late September, he has sat for White House interviews with 20 local television stations from Portland, Maine, to Portland, Ore. Those have complemented his speeches around the country, about three-fourths of them in states considered crucial to his re-election.

Since late October, he has trumpeted 18 initiatives as part of a "We Can't Wait" campaign, designed to highlight executive actions Obama takes without Congress' involvement.

For a candidate who campaigned against Washington's petty politics and a president who tried to work with Republicans for most of his term, the change has been striking.

A year ago, he singled out Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell at a White House ceremony for his help in passing a payroll tax cut for 155 million Americans. Since the July debt-limit talks, he has spoken to McConnell once — by telephone.

Former lawmakers can't recall a time when a president and congressional leaders from the other party refused to work together for so long.

"It's an abdication of leadership on his part," says former Senate Republican leader Trent Lott. "You don't get to check out when you're president … whether you feel like you've been dealt with appropriately or not."

"In all the administrations I'm aware of, there's been tremendous communication and meetings, and ultimately cooperation," says former House Democratic leader Dick Gephardt. "The Republicans are just locked in. They don't want to agree. They don't want to negotiate."

The seeds were planted for bad blood between Obama and GOP leaders 14 months ago, when McConnell told an interviewer that "the single most important thing we want to achieve is for President Obama to be a one-term president." moncler jackets promotion The comment has been recalled often by the White House as evidence the GOP can't be trusted.

After the debt-limit talks failed to yield the "grand bargain" sought by Obama and House Speaker John Boehner to cut $4 trillion from future budget deficits, Obama chose a new, public strategy. GOP leaders, he reasoned, would continue to oppose him at every turn and couldn't speak for their more conservative members anyway.

"The conclusion he drew after the summer … is to aggressively enlist the American people in these discussions," says David Axelrod, the campaign's chief strategist. "And I think that was the right thing to do."

Unable to advance his legislative priorities, the president instead has rallied his supporters — most often in states such as Virginia, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Ohio, Iowa and Colorado, all up for grabs in next year's election. Top White House and campaign officials contend it's worked on two fronts: advancing policy goals and improving poll ratings.

Progress toward reaching his goals, however, has been incremental. Obama's jobs package and payroll tax cut — even his nominee to head a consumer watchdog agency — have been blocked by Senate Republicans. Only a small portion of his $447 billion American Jobs Act got through Congress; the payroll tax and jobless aid remain mired in discord.

And polls have barely budged. Obama's job approval in Gallup's daily tracking poll was 41% in early August and is 42% now, with a high of 45% in between.

Since the summer, Obama and Boehner — onetime golf buddies — have spoken only briefly by phone. "We are very different people, have very different beliefs about what the appropriate role of the federal government is," Boehner said earlier this week. "But we get along very well."

Less so Obama and McConnell. "The president does not seem to be happy these days unless he has an issue over which to divide us," the Senate GOP leader said earlier this week. "If the Republicans are proposing it, he is against it. … He is not even trying to hide it."

Presidents and opposition leaders in Congress have fought before. Franklin Roosevelt went around Congress in 1940 to build support for the United States entering World War II. Harry Truman ran against a "do-nothing" Congress in 1948, winning in an upset despite poll ratings as low as Obama's. Bill Clinton fumed over Republicans' budget tactics in 1995 and his impeachment in 1998.

More often, however, the two sides have broken bread and brokered deals. Republican Dwight Eisenhower huddled with Democrats Lyndon Johnson and Sam Rayburn in the family quarters at night. As president, Johnson met with Republican senator Everett Dirksen over cocktails.

Ronald Reagan met with congressional leaders at 9 a.m. every Tuesday, though Democrats weren't invited every time. Clinton kept the phone lines open to Lott mornings and evenings. After 9/11, George W. moncler vest for men cheap Bush hosted weekly breakfast meetings with bipartisan leaders.

Alan Simpson, the Senate's assistant GOP leader during parts of the Reagan, George H.W. Bush and Clinton administrations, can't recall a time when leaders barely communicated.

We have to try Islamic rule to be able to decide

Two Islamist blocs won close to 70 percent of seats in the first round on Nov. 28-29, according to an AP tally compiled from official results. moncler jackets The secular and liberal forces that largely drove Egypt's uprising were trounced, failing to turn their achievement into a victory at the polls.

The second round of voting, taking place Wednesday and Thursday, and the third round in early January are not expected to dramatically alter the result and could strengthen the Islamists' hand.

"We have to try Islamic rule to be able to decide if it's good for us," said 60-year-old voter Hussein Khattab, an accountant, waiting to vote Wednesday at a polling station near the famous pyramids in Giza province on the western outskirts of Cairo. "If not, we can go back to Tahrir," he said, referring to the Cairo square that was the focus of the uprising in January and February that ousted longtime President Hosni Mubarak.

He said he planned to vote for the Muslim Brotherhood, the country's most organized and well-known party. Its Freedom and Justice party took 47 percent of contested seats, while the even more conservative Al-Nour bloc won 21 percent.

The election is the first since Mubarak's Feb. 11 ouster and is the freest in Egypt's modern history. The parliament will be tasked, in theory, with forming a 100-member assembly to draft a new constitution.

But its actual role remains unclear. The military council that has ruled since Mubarak's fall says the parliament will not be representative of all of Egypt, and should not have sole power over the drafting of the constitution. Last week, the military appointed a 30-member council to oversee the process.

Nearly 19 million of Egypt's 50 million eligible voters can participate in the second round, which will decide 180 seats in the 498-seat People's Assembly, the parliament's lower house.

So far, many voters say they are just happy to participate in a real election after decades of fraud and vote-rigging by Mubarak's party. Lines were so long at some polling stations that vendors set up shop to sell tea and snacks to voters during their wait.

The Islamists' strong showing has raised questions about the future of a country that has faced deteriorating security and economic free fall since the uprising.

The Brotherhood faces its stiffest competition from Al-Nour, the party of Salafi Muslims whose ultraconservative interpretation of Islam is similar to that practiced in Saudi Arabia.

The Brotherhood is sending mixed messages about how much it will push to limit personal freedoms such as women's dress. Some have tried to assure the public they do not intend to strictly impose Islamic law, or Shariah. But other Brotherhood leaders have indicated a more hard-line direction, cheap moncler jackets for example by suggesting tourists don't need to drink alcohol while they are in Egypt.

The Salafis say openly they will push for strict enforcement of Islamic law, and some have railed against tourists who wear bikinis at beach resorts popular with foreigners. At a recent campaign rally in the coastal city of Alexandria, Salafis covered mermaid statues with cloth.

Some voters worried about the growing clout of Islamists turned out to support the liberal and secular parties that performed poorly in the first round. The liberal Egyptian Bloc came in a distant third with just nine percent.

"I was worried about all their statements about sex segregation, tourism and beaches," said Giza voter Omniya Fikry.

Islamist parties appealed to voters who believe they'll run a clean government. Public anger over rampant corruption under Mubarak was a major impetus behind the uprising. The Islamist groups are also known to many for providing social services, especially to the poor.

In the city of Suez on the southern end of the Suez Canal, voters waiting in lines on garbage-strewn, unpaved streets complained of neglect by the Mubarak regime and hoped the new leadership would fix the economy.

Suez was one of the first cities to join the anti-Mubarak uprising and saw some of the most violent clashes between security forces and protesters.

Reflecting the trend throughout Egypt, however, most Suez voters supported Islamists, saying they expected them to avoid corruption and make life better for the poor.

Other residents bemoaned the liberal parties' weak organization.

"I would have wished that the liberal parties had united so we could vote for them, but they are all over the place thinking of their own good," said Ali el-Genadi, whose 24-year-old son Islam was shot dead by security forces during the uprising.

He also criticized Islamist parties for not supporting the uprising from the start and chose to vote for no one.

Scattered reports emerged during the day of problems at voting sites, most involving clashes between supporters of different parties. Five people were injured in a gunfight in the central province of Sohag, and police chased off a group of women elsewhere in the same province after voters complained they were trying to buy votes. But mostly, voting appeared smooth.

Throughout the country, activists for all main parties violated the ban on campaigning on election day, distributing fliers outside of polling stations.

Many voters said they had little knowledge about the parties or candidates _ even the ones they voted for, prompting many to worry that last minute campaigning could easily affect confused citizens, cheap moncler especially in a country where almost one-third of the population can't read.

Outside a polling station in Giza, a bearded man grabbed an elderly man on his way to vote and told him "Al-Nour party, OK?"

In another polling station, a reporter from The Associated Press saw a judge overseeing the vote fill out a ballot for an old man. When the judge noticed the reporter, he shouted, "Why are you here, old man, if you don't know who to vote for?"

Finchel Continue to Warm Our Heart

Black-and-White Makes Everything Better: Was it just because the look was so retro, or was that holiday special within a holiday special extra delightful? How could you not smile as Kurt (Chris Colfer) moncler jackets and Blaine (Darren Criss) welcomed us into their home for a little visit? Each minute was cheesier than the last, and we couldn't possibly pick which number to favor, but it doesn't even matter! New Directions showed us the right way to celebrate the holidays: good songs, good friends and Star Wars characters. Oh, and Cheerios dancing round in revealing outfits, of course.

Glee Can Still Teach a Lesson: Yes, the holidays are all about spending time with loved ones and singing catchy songs, but this is also the time to think about those in need, like Sam (Chord Overstreet) and Rory (Damian McGinty) did. And while we certainly enjoyed the Glee holiday special (see above), we thought the scene in the homeless shelter with all of New Directions was particularly heartwarming. All it took was a quick convo between Sam and Quinn (Dianna Agron) to remind us that not everyone has the means to have a good holiday. And if we can get some good Sue Sylvester (Jane Lynch) lines out of the same scene, then that's the best Glee gift we can think of. Oh! And Emma (Jayma Mays) made a quick appearance! We miss you, Miss Pillsbury. Of course, something tells us we'll be seeing a lot more of you real soon. And in case you didn't hear, Glee will donate 100 percent of the sales of the "Do They Know It's Christmas?" single to the Band Aid Trust.

A New Bromance Is Born: Damian did tell us that he and Sam bond over being away from their families, but we had no idea it would this bromantic. Especially since Rory also wanted Sam to be his Valentine's Day sponsor as well. We know there are people out there who are still convinced that Sam is gay, so we know they are taking this bromance and running with it all the way to the speculation bank.

Finchel Continue to Warm Our Hearts: How cute was Finn's gift to his girl? What'd we tell you? Not the pig, although we did adore how Rachel took a liking to it and named it Barbra. It wasn't the star that we loved the best; it was the fact that he named it Finn Hudson because there was already a star named Rachel Berry. And sure, Kurt and Blaine's gift-exchange scene might have been cut for time so we don't really have anything to compare it to, but when Finchel decided to give back instead of indulging in materialistic items, they just zoomed to the top of our nice list. Speaking of giving back, because Glee put us all in such a festive mood, we just cheap moncler jackets wanted to let you all know that you can go here to adopt an angel for Christmas and help the less fortunate have a truly special holiday.

WHAT LIES AHEAD

Matt Morrison Behind the Camera Again: If you enjoyed the look and flow of tonight's episode, then you partially have M.M. to thank. And he'll probably be directing again, but only if he doesn't have to be Will Schuester at the same time. "I would like to [direct again] in a way that I didn't have to act in it. There's just so much to learn in that realm, and I feel like having to act in it at this stage kind of takes away [from directing]. I get super stressed. But it's something I would definitely love again."

Santana's Storyline Amps Up: Gloria Estefan coming on as Santana's mom is not just for musical reasons, obviously. Our source tells us that Mrs. Lopez and her daughter's interactions regarding Santana's sexuality have the big emotional punch that the fans of her coming out storyline have been waiting for. From what we hear, tears will be shed. And not just by us viewers.

No More Mashups? Blasphemy: Some of the best numbers in Glee history have been mashups, but Adam Anders, Glee's musical executive producer would do away with them forever if it was up to him. " No, please God. No more mashups," he tells us semi-jokingly. "They're so difficult and we have so little time and I want everything to be so good that I'll kill myself trying to make those." But never fear, Anders will always be around to work his Glee music magic. "Gloria Estefan is going to be a lot of fun," he says. "And we've got some other themed shows coming up that are just amazing."

There were many, many reasons that the Bears lost to the Broncos in overtime Sunday

For the last three weeks — and I’m being kind here with the time span — Angelo has looked like a pensioner poring over time-share brochures. He has stood by backup-turned-starter Caleb Hanie moncler jackets when the overwhelming evidence points to the fact that Hanie can’t play quarterback in the NFL.

There were many, many reasons that the Bears lost to the Broncos in overtime Sunday: Tim Tebow’s dramatic timing, Marion Barber’s mistakes and the Bears’ fetal-position defensive strategy late in the game, among others.

But if they had had a legitimate, bona fide quarterback, or even a decent facsimile of one, we wouldn’t find ourselves in the middle of a national discussion about why God would care whether Tebow wins football games or not.

I don’t know whether the royal and ancient Donovan McNabb would’ve been the answer after Jay Cutler went down with a broken thumb, but he had to have been better than Hanie. Had. To. Hanie was awful in his first two games, throwing six interceptions, but Sunday’s game brought into perfect focus the cost of Angelo’s stubbornness on the issue.

There was never a hint that Hanie was going to lead the Bears to victory in the fourth quarter or overtime. Say what you want about Tebow, and I have, but he understands that taking over an up-for-grabs game means making big plays. Hanie’s longest completion was 19 yards. He threw for 115 yards and no touchdowns.

That’s not being a caretaker quarterback. That’s being an undertaker quarterback.

In the two previous games, we saw the alternative to the overly careful approach. Offensive coordinator Mike Martz attempted to project all of his genius X-ing and O-ing onto Hanie, the result being passes beyond the quarterback’s abilities and those six interceptions.

Not long after Angelo laughed about cheap moncler jackets the suggestion he might retire after this season, Houston’s third-string quarterback was leading his team to an 80-yard, game-winning touchdown drive in the final two minutes against the Bengals. It’s probably worth mentioning that T.J. Yates is a rookie and that he was operating with no timeouts. Oh, yeah, and that he threw for 300 yards.

It doesn’t get much more incriminating than that for Angelo, who was the guy manning the torpedoes that sunk the Bears’ playoff hopes.

If Angelo wants to say his third-string rookie quarterback, Nathan Enderle, can play, well, it’s a little late for that, Uncle Jerry.

The Bears are 0-3 with Hanie at quarterback. If their general manager had paid attention the last several years, he would’ve known that Hanie couldn’t cut it. If he had had his wits about him recently, he would have acted immediately after the first loss, in Oakland, and brought in somebody else, anybody else. OK, somebody, anybody better than Josh McCown.

Either way, Angelo is culpable.

Don’t let him tell you that the Bears’ offensive system is too complicated for an outsider to learn in a few weeks. That’s a cop-out. By the way, how has that complicated offense worked out in Martz’s two seasons in Chicago? If Angelo stuck with Hanie simply because the offense is hard to grasp, it’s a bigger sin than his poor evaluation skills.

Martz was right about Cutler’s backup. The media’s explanation for the coordinator’s disregard for Hanie was that it was all an act, that Martz always treats the second-string quarterback like an inept cabana boy.

We know now that he simply didn’t like what he saw in Hanie.

Without Cutler, the Bears have gone from 7-3 to 7-6. All three of those games were winnable with an average quarterback.

Inside ultra-secretive Halas Hall, no one is saying when Cutler will return. But an 8-5 record or a 9-4 record at this point would have sped up the healing process on his broken thumb. Same with running back Matt Forte and his sprained knee. You can bet on that.

Instead, we’re left to watch what had been a good season flame out like a dying star. We’re left to watch Hanie continue to play football because of front-office cluelessness.

“[Hanie] made some plays,’’ giubbotti moncler outlet coach Lovie Smith said.

Sure, and Charlie Brown has kicked some footballs.
